The Start of My Journey: Building an Audience with Heart and Purpose

Every great journey starts with a single step, and for me, this is it. I’ve decided to build an audience—a community of like-minded people who share my values, challenges, and aspirations. But to do that, I need to truly understand who I’m attracting, and that’s where the "Audience Builder Challenge" by Funnel Gorgeous comes in.

This isn’t just about marketing strategies or sales funnels. It’s about building connections, offering value, and showing up authentically. Here’s how I’m starting this exciting journey, one question at a time.

Step 1: Who Am I Attracting?

To figure out who I want in my audience, I need to dig deep into their personality, values, likes, and dislikes. These are the people I hope to inspire, support, and grow with. So, I’m asking myself:

  • What do they stand for? Are they creators, dreamers, or doers?

  • What do they care about? Family, freedom, growth, or creativity?

  • What lights them up—and what drains them?

As I reflect on these questions, I realize my audience reflects parts of me. They’re people who crave authenticity, value connection, and believe in the power of transformation.

Step 2: Understanding Where They Are

Everyone is at a different stage of awareness when it comes to their challenges. Some may not even realize there’s a problem. Others know they need a solution but feel stuck. My goal is to meet them wherever they are and guide them forward.

  • Are they feeling stuck or inspired?

  • Do they need clarity or direction?

  • Are they ready to take action—or just need the nudge to start?

I see myself in this too, and it makes the process feel real and relatable.

Step 3: Tapping Into Aspirations

What does success look like to them? This step really hit home for me. It’s not just about selling something; it’s about showing them what’s possible. Whether it’s achieving balance, building confidence, or living authentically, I want to create a space where they feel empowered to grow.

  • What do they dream of? More time, freedom, or fulfillment?

  • What do they fear? Feeling stuck, unheard, or unseen?

By understanding their hopes and challenges, I can help them move toward a version of success they’re proud of.

Step 4: Listening to Their Stories

One of the most exciting parts of this journey is listening. The way people talk about their problems, the solutions they hope for, and their everyday experiences is a window into their world. It’s where the magic of connection begins.

  • What are they frustrated about?

  • What do they hope for?

  • What words do they use to express it?

This isn’t just research; it’s a way for me to ensure my content, offers, and approach feel real and relevant.

Step 5: Learning From What They’ve Tried

People are resourceful. My audience has likely tried other solutions or approaches, and maybe those didn’t work for them. This realization keeps me grounded. I’m not here to push; I’m here to serve.

  • What worked for them before? What didn’t?

  • What are they still searching for?

Understanding this gives me a chance to bring something different—something that feels like the right fit.

Step 6: Aligning Beliefs

Beliefs are at the heart of every decision. As I learn more about my audience, I’m also reflecting on my own beliefs. Do I believe in their ability to overcome challenges? Absolutely. Do I believe I can guide them? Without a doubt.

But I also want to understand:

  • What do they believe about themselves, others, and their challenges?

  • What do they think about solutions like mine?

This process reminds me to lead with empathy and understanding.

Step 7: Stepping Into Their World

Where does my audience spend their time? From blogs to podcasts, social media to events, this step is about meeting them where they are. I’m learning to step into their ecosystem, not as a marketer, but as a listener and participant.

Why This Journey Matters

This isn’t just about growing an audience; it’s about building something meaningful. I don’t just want followers—I want a community. People who feel seen, understood, and supported. People I can learn from just as much as I can inspire.

What Comes Next

I’m taking this one step at a time, using what I learn to create content, products, and experiences that truly resonate. This is the start of a journey I’m excited to share, and I can’t wait to see where it leads.

To those who will join me: thank you for being here. Let’s build something amazing together.
